What’s In My Doula Bag?

I joke with my clients that my doula bag is my ‘bag of tricks’. I adore getting it re-stocked while I await the call from my next couple, that labour has begun and I’m about to meet a beautiful little soul in the coming hours.

I thought I would share what I pack, mainly so my clients don’t double up on unnecessary purchases.

  • Rebozo
  • Plain massage oil
  • Variety of essential oils (see link for exact oils and uses)
  • Massage oil mixing dish
  • Handheld massager
  • HypnoBirthing scripts
  • Acupressure handout
  • Client paperwork including birth preferences
  • Pad and pen for taking notes
  • Variety of toiletries for myself including pain relief
  • Hair clips, ties and head bands
  • Snacks for me but always happy to share (nuts, dates, chocolate, porridge)
  • Honey and plastic spoons (energy hit for mum)
  • Tea cup and tea bags
  • Water bottle
  • Electrolyte drink
  • Bendy straws
  • Phone charger
  • Kindle
  • Wallet
  • Spare clothes
  • Thongs  (flipflops for my American peeps)
  • TENS Machine
  • CUB and charger
  • Avene Spring Water face spray
  • ‘Reset’ room spray
  • ‘Hot Hands’ hand warmer pads
  • Hot pack

For the fellow doula’s, I use a large backpack to hold everything so I can have all my hands free when needed.
